Position Description
Buyer/Planner

The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for tactical procurement process for Vyaire’s manufacturing sites and OEM/CM businesses. They will manage supplier relationships on a daily basis and ensure availability of right quantity of product to support manufacturing and customer requirements.

In particular you can expect to:

  • Manage component supply and inventory levels utilizing MR, plan and purchase material to requirements, and ensure flow of materials for production and distribution
    • Ensure supplier on-time delivery
    • Inventory management through Kanban, VMI and MRP
  • Support procurement needs driven by new product development programs and sustaining engineering driven by product obsoletion, raw material availability, etc.
  • Conduct risk assessments of key suppliers and keep management and Sourcing team members appraised of any potential supplier risks such as quality, supplier capacity, supplier long term viability, etc.
  • Participate in business reviews and review preparation for critical suppliers, as needed, participate in supplier audits and visit supplier facilities to ensure completion of corrective actions as necessary                                                                   
  • Understand and communicate component specifications to suppliers, including the ability to read drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and documentation requirements
  • Maintain strong relationships and communication links to key internal business partners (Sourcing, Operations, Finance, Quality, etc.)                                                                      
  • Develop and enhance relationships with strategic suppliers, including selection, supply agreements and issue resolution                                                                               
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to resolve supplier payment issues
  • Collaborate with Sourcing team members to develop and implement appropriate commodity strategies for sustaining company’s short/long-term plans and operational excellence
  • Manage and report on KPIs pertaining to component inventory levels, aging POs, potential stock out risk, etc.
  • Support Sourcing team in development and maintenance of in-house knowledge of global purchasing markets, current players and trends

To be successful, you will need:

  • BS / BA in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Material Science, or similar discipline desired
  • 5-7 years’ experience in procurement function
  • Medical device or technology experience
  • APICS Certification a plus
  • Working knowledge of Sales Forecasting, Logistics, Customer Service, Production Planning, Manufacturing Scheduling, Materials Planning and Procurement
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • ERP systems knowledge
  • Lean training/six sigma background a plus

Some logistics:

  • Location: The current office is based in Yorba Linda however we be moving to the Irvine area. Once property is identified in Irvine this position will relocate to the new space based in the Irvine area
  • Travel: 25-30%
